Role description

You will design, build, test, deploy and maintain business-critical software used across IRISE ICT products and client projects. Junior developers will work with guidance while growing their engineering practice. Senior developers will own complex features, shape architecture, review code, mentor teammates and help improve delivery standards.

Requirements

  • Core skills — Strong programming fundamentals, problem-solving ability, data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design.
  • Backend development — Practical experience with PHP 8+, Laravel or a comparable modern framework, RESTful APIs, authentication, validation and secure server-side development.
  • Additional languages — Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript; experience with Node.js, Python, Java, C#/.NET or Go is an advantage.
  • Frontend development — Solid HTML5, CSS3 and responsive design skills, plus experience with modern JavaScript and at least one framework such as React, Vue or Angular.
  • Databases — Strong SQL and MySQL skills, including relational modelling, indexes, transactions and query optimisation; exposure to PostgreSQL, Redis or another NoSQL/cache technology is beneficial.
  • Software delivery — Comfortable with Git, pull requests, code reviews, debugging, automated testing, CI/CD and Linux-based development or hosting environments.
  • Architecture and integration — Understanding of API design, third-party integrations, background jobs, queues, caching, webhooks and scalable application patterns.
  • Security — Familiarity with OWASP practices, secure authentication, authorisation, input validation, secrets handling, data protection and common web vulnerabilities.
  • Cloud and operations — Exposure to Docker, web servers, monitoring and at least one cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or Cloudflare is an advantage.
  • Professional skills — Clear written and verbal communication, teamwork, ownership, attention to detail, documentation and the ability to translate business needs into maintainable software.
  • Junior level — About 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, freelance work, open-source contributions or a strong project portfolio; must demonstrate solid fundamentals and willingness to learn.
  • Senior level — Typically 5+ years of relevant experience delivering production systems, making architectural decisions, improving performance and reliability, reviewing code and mentoring other developers.
  • Education — A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline is helpful, but equivalent professional experience and demonstrable technical ability are accepted.
  • Portfolio — Provide a GitHub profile, portfolio or examples of applications, APIs or systems you have built, clearly stating your contribution.
